Buying guide
A terminal tractor fits sites that move semi trailers short distances between doors and parking. Send us the trailers, the yard and the moves per shift and we confirm the build.
Trailer weight and hitch
The TrailerCaddy Terminal Tractor moves semi, OTR and tank trailers up to 100,000 lb. A heavy duty king pin receiver for fifth wheel trailers and a 10 inch hydraulic pump lift kit come standard.
Pintle and ball hitches are options for other trailers. For trailers with air brakes, add the air brake release kit with its glad hand cables and air tank.
Speed and control
It moves at 0 to 1.3 mph forward and reverse, set by a thumb control. The operator walks alongside facing forward, so there is no backing up from a cab and no climbing in and out. Fine speed control helps protect the dock, the trailer and the equipment.
Four 18 inch solid tread drive tires and two steer tires carry it, through a 6 HP motor and a 5.6 to 1 chain reduction. A safety stop switch, horn and strobe light are standard.
Batteries and charging
Four 150 Ah batteries make a 48 volt system with an external charger. Upgrades to 8 or 16 batteries extend the shift, and AGM batteries are needed for overseas shipment.
Space in the yard
The machine measures 122 inches long, 64 inches wide across the drive tires and 61 inches to the handle. Check the clearance at your dock doors and between parked trailers, and tell us the narrowest point on the route.

Questions
Who can operate it?
Trained employees walking alongside the unit. Training and site requirements apply, so ask us what your site needs before you order.
When is a trailer dolly enough?
For lighter trailers, ball or pintle hitches, or moves off pavement, a trailer dolly is often the better fit. See our trailer dollies for models from 10,000 to 100,000 lb.
Does it need fuel or an engine?
No. It is battery powered and charges from an external charger, so it runs without exhaust.
What is a terminal tractor?
A terminal tractor, also called a yard truck, spots semi trailers between dock doors and the yard over short distances. This electric model couples to the king pin, lifts the trailer and moves up to 100,000 lb with the operator walking alongside.
How do I get a price?
