Buying guide
Choose a compact tugger when the route has narrow halls, tight turns or small elevators. Check the cart weight, the coupling and the battery.
Towing capacity
The CartCaddyLite models move 1,000 lb. The Pony Express 1061 tows 1,500 lb, and the 1061-HD and 1062 tow 2,000 lb. The CartCaddyShorty pushes and pulls carts up to 3,000 lb.
Size and turning
The 1061 and 1061-HD are 22 inches wide. The 1062 is 25 by 24 inches. The CartCaddyLite Shorty is 27 inches long to the hitch and 26 inches wide. Send us the elevator car size and the cart length and we check the fit.
Coupling
The Pony Express models take the Pony Express hitch range, so match the hitch to how your carts couple. The CartCaddy units use a spring loaded hitch that connects to most carts in seconds, with a fifth wheel arm as an option.
Batteries
The AGM Pony Express models run up to 8 hours and recharge in about 4 hours from the onboard charger. The 1061 Lithium and 1061-HD Lithium swap packs by hand. The CartCaddyLite runs about 6 hours, and the CartCaddyShorty up to 16 hours.

Can a compact tugger move hospital beds?
The CartCaddyLite Shorty Hospital Cart Mover moves carts and beds up to 1,000 lb. Send us the bed weight and we confirm.
Do our carts need changes?
Usually not. Most carts take a hitch or coupler that bolts on, and the CartCaddy spring hitch connects to many carts as they are.
Is there a stainless model for washdown areas?
Yes. The Pony Express 1062 Stainless Steel and the CartCaddyShorty Stainless Steel are built for washdown and clean areas.
How wide is a compact tugger?
The Pony Express 1061 and 1061-HD are 22 inches wide with a length that adjusts from 22 to 42 inches. The 1062 has a 25 by 24 inch body. Send us the elevator car size and the cart length and we check the fit.

EK Tech covers Pony Express tuggers for 2 years on the frame and drive and 1 year on other parts. For DJ Products and Autoquip equipment, ask us.
