Buying guide

Choose a stock picking cart by shelf size, shelf height and the aisles it drives. Send us those and we confirm the model before you order.

Shelf size and height

The MCS carts come with chrome wire units 24 inches wide and 36, 48, 60 or 72 inches long, or 30 inches wide and 48 or 60 inches long. Shelving is 54 or 60 inches tall, and the powered platform adds about 12 inches, so the cart stands about 66 or 72 inches overall. Two of the three shelves adjust in 1 inch steps and one is fixed.

Load

Every MCS cart carries up to 1,500 lb. Extra shelves, wire mesh enclosures and vinyl covers are available. For heavier picks, a custom stock picking cart carries up to 2,000 lb.

Aisles and doors

Center wheel drive gives a tight turning radius in narrow aisles. Speed runs from 0 to 3 mph in fast mode and 0 to 1.5 mph in slow mode, and the handle sits 40 inches off the floor. A vinyl bumper runs all the way around the deck to protect racking and walls. Overall length and width are confirmed on the quote, so send us your narrowest aisle, door and elevator sizes.

Batteries and range

Deep cycle AGM batteries cover up to 10 miles between charges, and the onboard charger plugs into a standard 120 or 240 volt outlet. An automatic holding brake keeps a parked cart in place on an incline. The charger is UL, cUL and CE listed, and an illuminated gauge shows the charge left.

Questions

Can you build a picking cart to our own layout?

Yes. A custom stock picking cart carries up to 2,000 lb, comes in steel, stainless steel or aluminum, and takes a tool holder designed to your requirements. Custom sizes are available. Send a sketch and the loads you pick.

Does the cart stop if the operator lets go?

Yes. The cart comes to a controlled stop when the controls are released. A horn, an emergency stop and a keyed power switch come standard.

Will the cart mark our floors?

No. The carts run on non-marking tires.

What sizes do the picking carts come in?

Twelve sizes. The chrome wire shelving unit is 24 or 30 inches wide and 36 to 72 inches long, with 54 or 60 inch shelving, and every size carries 1,500 lb.

How do I get a price?

How does it arrive?

Most machines go by freight truck from the factory. Parts and smaller items can go by FedEx or UPS. Freight to your ZIP is on your quote before you order. Rush and overnight shipping cost extra. We sell and ship to US addresses only.

What warranty comes with it?

EK Tech covers Pony Express tuggers for 2 years on the frame and drive and 1 year on other parts. For DJ Products and Autoquip equipment, ask us.
